Study Abroad Opportunity

In collaboration with Radford University, students at VT are given the opportunity to do their study abroad in China with students and faculty members at RU for a month.  Students are required to take at least one year of Elementary Chinese courses prior to their departure to China.  Students are required to register the Study Abroad course through RU and pay for the tuition there.

This is a four-credit Intermediate college course.  The Study Abroad program is home based in Beijing, the capital city of China.  Students will study the Chinese language and culture half of the day from Monday to Friday and go on excursions to places such as the Great Wall, Summer Palace, National Museum, local market or zoo in the afternoons and on weekends.  Students will also travel to other cities such as Hang Zhou, Zhou Zhuang and Shanghai, etc.  The cities will vary from year to year.  Through this Study Abroad program, students will improve their Chinese language skills and establish deeper friendship with local students and other citizens.  Students will have better understanding of the Chinese society and its culture by end of the trip.
