French for Business


The French program offers a wide variety of options combining the study of French language with business. We have opportunities for students of all levels and majors for the study of business and French.

  • Business French courses on three levels
  • Numerous study abroad opportunities in France
  • Internships in France (VPI&SU students only)
  • A Certificate of French for Business (for majors)
  • French for Business curricula for non-majors: a French for Business Concentration, Minor and Advanced Minor


In 2000, the United States did more trade with countries having French as a national language than to countries having any other foreign language. Trade with Canada alone in that year was greater than the combined trade with all countries south of the United States.

France is one of the largest economies in the world (not to mention the added weight of the economies of all the other 27 French-speaking countries).
