French Minor:

Six courses on the 2000 and 3000 level including at least one 3000-level literature course and one 3000-level culture & civilization course. We also offer a series of
French for Business Minors.

French 3164, French for Business, can count toward the minor if a student has completed one 3000-level French literature course (usually 3304) and one culture and civilization course (either 3205, 3206 or 3314).

Remember that you must declare your French minor for it to be official and appear on your transcripts. You are encouraged to declare your minor early in your course of studies.

Sample programs:

Note: Some of the requirements (3105 or 3106, 3206 or 3304) for the minor can be satisfied through work on the VPI&SU Summer Program in Paris.

Declaring a French minor is simple. Just go the the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures 331 Major Williams Hall. There is a short form to fill out. (Note: you must declare the minor for it to be on your records.) Students are encouraged to declare officially the minor as early as possible in their studies. Upon declaring a minor, you will be assigned an advisor who can assist you with the selection of courses or other questions you might have.

Note: You must earn a "C" or better in your French courses for them to count toward the major or minor.
