About Modern Greek
This course will involve the student in listening, speaking, writing and reading the Greek language, and at the same time build a good background in grammar and vocabulary. It will also incorporate cultural/ethnic aspects of the language and country.
PLEASE NOTE : Greek is a new course offered thanks to the generous support of the Paideia Foundation. For information on current availability, contact the instructor Dr. Maria Hatzios (mhatzios@vt.edu). Although the Department of Foreign Languages does not have a degree option for modern Greek, the following courses are offered:
Undergraduate Courses
FL 2984 (CRN 96170) : Beginning Modern Greek Offered in Fall 2006 for true beginners.
GR 2984 (CRN 17124) : Beginning Modern Greek (second semester) Offered in Spring 2007 as a continuation of the fall course. First-time students can take this class if they pass a small assessment test.
In our Greek classes all four language skills are emphasized: speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
