Elizabeth Calvera is a Senior Instructor of Spanish. She focuses attention on various aspects of culture as manifested in the broad spectrum of the many Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America as well as Spain. She mentors graduate teaching assistants, especially those who teach Spanish, but also those assigned to teach other languages. She oversees and assists new faculty assigned to elementary and intermediate Spanish courses. She coordinates all aspects of Elementary and Intermediate Spanish. She also coordinates the Student Exchange Program between Virginia Tech and the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador), and is co-director of and instructor in the annual summer Intensive Second Language Institute (ISLI) held each summer in July on the VT campus.
