Sarah Sierra is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech. Her research interests explore the evolution of historical consciousness in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Spanish literature. She has published on Benito Pérez Galdós' novels in Anales Galdosianos and in Symposium. She is currently working on research that examines the early novels of Pérez Galdós in dialogue with the folklore movement of the late-nineteenth century. She teaches courses on Spanish language, literature and culture as well as special topics on the formation of social identity in literary works from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
